Davis Technologies has supplied traction control to drag racers for the past 4 years. Using our extensive experience in the field of traction control, we have developed a system that has proven to be very effective in controlling the slip of a drag racing tire. Our systems work in real time as each pass is made, reacting to what the tires are doing under the current conditions, not simply running on a pre determined map based on old data. With our systems the tire slip is controlled based on the conditions as you go down the track, not the conditions when you were in the pit programming the map to what you thought the conditions might be! These systems have been tested on Pro Stock, Outlaw 10.5, Top Fuel, and many types of Bracket cars. The results have been impressive. While some of Davis Technologies products are not allowed for use in a small number of classes, they are still beneficial in use for testing. One big advantage our testers have reported is the ability to get a full pass even with a missed setup. Two standard systems are available, both are bases on our new hardware which is utilized in many other forms of racing. These units are the size of a pack of cigarettes and are removable by the driver. You would not want to let other competitors know what your advantage is ! (much smaller systems are available) The TM-DRAG-PRO is designed to work with ignition systems that have a provision for controlling the timing with a 12 volt input. Most popular digital ignitions and timing controllers have this feature, as well as many older analog type systems. Cost $4495.00 The TM-DRAG is designed for the budget minded racer who is running a simple ignition system utilizing a spark box and distributor trigger. Cost $2495.00 (HEI systems are also available) Both systems incorporate our patented technology for detecting wheel slip as well as our patented Self Learning feature. Each of these systems are two stage which allows for a different amount of timing correction for various amounts of slip. A little slip requires a small correction, while a larger slip requires more timing to be retarded. This allows the units to only reduce the timing by the amount required to limit the slip. The amount of retard is set by the racer, making this system very tunable for your conditions. We are often asked "How is this any different than the digital ignition controller I already have?" or "Why don't I just buy a digital ignition with timing control?". One major advantage our systems have over other systems that control the ignition timing to reduce tire slip is that our systems are active, real time systems. This means that instead of having to make many test runs to determine what the timing map should be (under the current conditions), our systems constantly monitor the acceleration rates and tire slip to determine the optimum timing automatically. The pre-determined maps are only good until the track changes, then the map may allow too little or too much timing. Our Self Learning drag systems update as fast as 200 times a second and only reduce ignition timing when wheel slip occurs.
